Software Test
Answers: What is this machine, what has it lived through, and how does it behave on the motor side today. Guided test routine on your robot, controller readout, standardized report with a /100 score benchmarked against the model reference. About 30 minutes on site, report the same day.
Does not answer: Backlash, reducer wear, accuracy you could put in front of a buyer — the encoders sit upstream of the reducer, so the controller cannot see any of it.
Instrumented Test
Answers: All of the above, plus what the arm itself is worth on the reducer side, measured independently of the controller. Physical measurement with our calibrated instrument kit: pose repeatability, joint backlash, vibration signature. For dealers, integrators and high-value transactions.
Does not answer: Remaining service life. No level we issue predicts a failure.
Which question do you need answered?
The two levels are not a short list and a long list of the same thing. They answer different questions, and the second one exists because of a physical limit in the first.

Neither level forecasts a failure or states a remaining service life. The ceiling is printed on the report next to the score, so a Screened result can never be presented as an instrumented one.

Questions people actually ask
Why does a Screened score stop at 73?
Because the controller's encoders sit on the motor side, before the reducer. A software session reads hours, dated alarms, identity and motor-side behaviour precisely, and is blind to backlash and gearbox wear by construction. A level that cannot see an entire family of wear should not be able to print 100/100, so the ceiling is 73 and it is printed next to the score. Instrumented measurement on the arm is what lifts it.
Who pays — the seller or the buyer?
Usually the seller: a signed report justifies the asking price and shortens the sale. Buyers commission one when the stake justifies it, typically on a machine above CHF 15,000 or when the seller has no history to show. Either way the price is the same and the report belongs to whoever ordered it.
How long does it take?
Screened is about 30 minutes on site and the report lands the same day. Certified is roughly two hours, because the instrument kit has to be set up, levelled and run through its cycles, and the report follows within 48 hours.
What does the report not promise?
It is an indicative condition assessment, not a prediction. We do not forecast failures, we do not state a remaining service life, and we do not certify absolute accuracy. Every figure carries its measurement uncertainty, and anything we could not measure is listed as not measured.
What if my controller has no live telemetry?
We issue a History & Identity report instead — hours, dated alarms, serial numbers, firmware history. It works on close to 100% of the installed base. It answers what the machine is and what it has lived through, and nothing about how it behaves today, so its ceiling sits below the 73 of a full Screened test. The report shows the ceiling, so nobody can present it as more than it is.
Do you take a cut of the sale?
No. We do not buy, sell or broker robots. Zero commission, no inventory, no referral fees. That is the entire point of an independent arbiter.
